EdPuzzle – Edit, crop, record audio and add questions to just about any video online and allow students to participate in virtual classrooms.

EdPuzzle is a website site that lets you take just about any video off the web, edit it down to the portions you want, add audio notes and questions for students, and create virtual classrooms where you can monitor individual student work. There is also an app that supports students to access the virtual classrooms and participate.

I see this tool as a fantastic way to engage students as well capture some analytics to see how your students are tracking. It’s a very powerful tool that can be used for any type of formative assessment.

I have set up a simple example in EdPuzzle that you can have a look at, it’s titled the Networked Student. This is a video that was shown to me in my early teaching years and struck a chord. With EdPuzzle I’ve added 3 simple questions to the video, all based on what was previously watched. The student is unable to skip to any part of the video until the question has been answered and once the student submits, there is instant feedback. This is configurable within your virtual classroom once you set it up.

You will need to create an account, but it’s easy and FREE!
